Resumen:
Desarrollo de envases bioplásticos a partir de subproductos de la industria cervecera.

Objetivos:
BioSupPack aims to deliver versatile and competitive bio-based packaging solutions based on PHA suitable for food, cosmetics, homecare and beverage sectors utilizations and to establish a new value chain including the development of logistics and management of both brewery and packaging waste

Acciones:
Creation of at least 2 biobased PHA materials to produce high-performing and more environmentally safe rigid plastic and fibre-based packaging which contributes to Circular Economy.
Integration of plasma technology throughout the value chain for the pre-treatment of brew spent grains and packaging wastes, but also for packaging enhancement.
Establishment of a new value chain including the development of logistics and management of both the brewery and packaging waste.

Resultados:
Increase the use of renewable resources (beer spent grains) for PHA formulations up to >85%.
Craft highly-performing PHA-based rigid packaging with properties similar to those of conventional petrochemical plastics present in the market.
Integrate plasma technology throughout the value chain for the pre-treatment of brew spent grains, packaging treatment and for the pre-treatment of packaging waste.
Develop a system able to identify and sort BioSupPack waste (>90% of BioSupPack materials identified).
Create new value chain by managing both brewery and packaging waste flows.
Sustainability and EUstandards compliance assessment.
